FA Filma is a film studio based in Riga, Latvia, dedicated to producing both documentaries and fiction films, with a strong focus on creative and author-driven storytelling. Founded by director Juris Poškus after his studies at CalArts in Los Angeles, the studio embraces the belief that "film is film"—making no strict distinction between fiction and documentary. While known for its creative documentaries, including titles premiered at IDFA and other international festivals, FA Filma has recently expanded into issue-driven narratives that engage with contemporary social themes. Producer Madara Melberga, with a background in philosophy, brings a reflective and analytical approach to the studio’s work.
We value artistic risk, honest storytelling, and a personal approach to every film, believing that form and content must evolve together. In addition to filmmaking, FA Filma hosts artistic residencies—Mitago Green—on the Baltic Sea coast, fostering a broader creative environment.
